Description

Fudarakusanji is known as a base for Fudaraku tokai, voyages undertaken in belief that Kannon’s Pure Land lay beyond the Kumano Sea. Its unusual three-faced Eleven-Headed Thousand-Armed Kannon dates to the Heian period. Normally secret, the image can be viewed directly three times a year. A reconstructed Fudaraku boat is also displayed on the grounds.
