Description

The National Treasure standing Shuho-o Bosatsu is displayed in Toshodaiji Temple's Shin-Hozo Treasure Hall. A single-block wooden sculpture from the late eighth-century old Lecture Hall group, it is said to embody a bodhisattva image once possessed by Ganjin himself. A vertical third eye on the forehead and traces of multiple lost arms suggest that it was originally created as Fukukensaku Kannon.
