Description

Joju-in was founded, according to tradition, in 1219 by Hōjō Yasutoki on a site where Kūkai had once performed esoteric fire rituals. Its main hall enshrines Fudō Myōō (Acala), revered for cutting through delusion, averting misfortune, and helping prayers for good relationships reach fulfillment. The temple stands above Gokurakuji-zaka with broad views toward Yuigahama. The bright coastal landscape and Fudō’s uncompromising gaze create a memorable balance of openness, discipline, and powerful protection.
