Description

At Iyadaniji, Temple No. 71 of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage, a rock-carved Amida triad appears on the cliff beside the steps leading from the Daishi Hall to the main hall. Approximately 1 m high, the figures have gentle expressions framed by boat-shaped halos. Tradition attributes the carving to Kobo Daishi, but its date and maker are not established. Mount Iyadani has long been revered in connection with ancestral spirits, and the carvings and caves across its rocky slopes reflect this mountain faith. The triad can be viewed directly from the path, though the ascent involves steep steps.
