Description

Three wooden standing images of Prince Shotoku are permanently displayed in Jodoji Temple's Treasure Museum. They portray him in three distinct forms—the Regent, Namu-butsu Prince, and Filial Piety images—and date respectively from the early Heian, Kamakura, and Nanbokucho periods. Seen together, the three offer a rare opportunity to compare how representations of Prince Shotoku developed across three eras. All three are designated National Important Cultural Properties. Jodoji's official website lists them as the 'Prince Shotoku Triad' on permanent display in the museum.
