DescriptionJochi-ji’s Donge-den enshrines a wooden seated triad of the Buddhas of the Three Ages, designated an Important Cultural Property of Kanagawa Prefecture. From left to right, Amida, Shakyamuni, and Miroku represent the past, present, and future. Created in the Nanbokuchō period, the figures display Song-dynasty-influenced robes that fall deeply over their pedestals. Within the quiet valley setting of northern Kamakura, the triad gives visible form to time itself and to a faith that embraces every age.
