Description

Seiryoji’s Treasure Hall preserves an Important Cultural Property wooden standing Tobatsu Bishamonten from the Heian period. This distinctive form of Bishamonten stands out among the temple’s Heian Buddhist sculptures. It is shown during the Treasure Hall’s spring and autumn openings together with major works such as the Amida triad, the Ten Great Disciples and the Four Heavenly Kings. In autumn 2026, the Treasure Hall is scheduled to open from October 1 through November 30, offering a rare chance to encounter this unusual guardian image in person.
