Description

Seyakuji Temple in Yosano, Kyoto, enshrines a wooden seated Aizen Myoo in its Jibutsudo Hall. The deity is shown in the characteristic fierce, six-armed form and is venerated for relationships and harmony in the home. According to cultural-property materials from Yosano Town, the outer figure dates to the Muromachi period and contains a smaller Aizen Myoo image from the late Kamakura period within its body. This unusual nested construction reflects a regional tradition of placing sacred images inside larger statues. The temple is currently open for general worship.
