Description

Daikakuji’s Treasure Hall preserves a seated image of Aizen Myoo, one of the most visually striking Wisdom Kings of esoteric Buddhism. With three eyes and six arms, Aizen holds ritual implements including a vajra bell, vajra, bow, arrow, jewel and unopened lotus, wears a lion crown, and is depicted in vivid red. The deity symbolizes the transformation of desire and attachment into Buddhist wisdom. The image is shown during Daikakuji’s special treasure exhibitions, and in autumn 2026 it is scheduled to be on view from October 9 through December 7.
