DescriptionTennyuji Temple preserves two statues carved by the itinerant monk-sculptor Mokujiki Myoman: Seishi Bodhisattva and Kannon Bodhisattva. The pair were carved from a single pine log split lengthwise, and when placed back-to-back they fit together precisely. The temple also preserves a self-portrait statue by Mokujiki; the three works are collectively designated Important Tangible Cultural Properties of Hyogo Prefecture. Viewing is available by reservation made at least one day in advance.
