DescriptionThe wooden standing Amida Nyorai is the principal image of Nenbutsuji Temple in Arima Onsen. Dating to the Kamakura period, it was designated a Tangible Cultural Property by Kobe City in 2025. Its refined face, well-balanced proportions, and skillfully carved drapery reveal a high level of craftsmanship, and the temple traditionally attributes the image to Kaikei. The Main Hall, built in 1712, is regarded as the oldest surviving building in Arima Onsen, and the Amida image remains the focus of daily worship.
