DescriptionThe principal image in the Main Hall of Senjuji Temple is a wooden standing Senju Kannon Bosatsu. The 42-armed statue is made of kaya wood using joined-block construction, is attributed to the Kei school of the Nanbokucho period, and is designated a Tangible Cultural Property of Osaka Prefecture. Senju Kannon represents the bodhisattva whose thousand hands and eyes save sentient beings; in this image, the 42 arms symbolically express that compassionate activity. It is normally hidden and unveiled only once a year at New Year. In 2026, it was shown in the Main Hall on January 2 and 3.
