DescriptionThe Butsuden Hall of Ojoin Rokumanji Temple preserves a group of Buddhist statues dating from the Heian period: two seated Amida Nyorai images, standing Kannon and Seishi Bosatsu images, and a standing Eleven-Faced Kannon. Higashiosaka City lists them as three designated cultural properties: a wooden seated Amida Nyorai with two attendant standing figures, another wooden seated Amida Nyorai, and a wooden standing Eleven-Faced Kannon. The temple has long been associated with nissokan meditation and devotion to rebirth in the Pure Land, and Amida Nyorai remains its principal image. The statues are normally closed to the public but can be worshipped during the annual New Year’s Day opening of the Butsuden Hall from 9:00 to 15:00.
