DescriptionThe Wooden Standing Eleven-Faced Thousand-Armed Kannon, principal image of Senkoji Temple, dates from the late Heian period and is designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan. The temple is traditionally said to have been founded by Gyoki in the Nara period and was once counted among the six major temples of Koka. Although the temple is unattended today, the image in the repository can be viewed by advance reservation through the Koka City Tourism and Community Development Association.
