DescriptionThe principal image of Korinji Temple is a wooden standing Amida Nyorai. Hekinan City's official tourism site introduces the statue as a work by Kaikei and a designated municipal cultural property. The 90.8 cm figure is a joined-and-split wood sculpture with crystal eyes, finished with gold paint and lacquer-gilding, and is dated to the mid-Kamakura period in the 13th century. Its taut, refined form conveys both the realism and dignity associated with Kamakura sculpture. The official tourism guide states that no reservation is required, making this a particularly worthwhile temple in Hekinan for seeing the Buddhist image itself.
