DescriptionDisplayed at the Koka Cultural Heritage Repository, this seated Bodhisattva comes from the Buddhist images formerly kept at Rengebuji and handed down at Koka Shrine. It bears a date of 1124, and Seki City identifies it as probably an Eleven-faced Kannon. Gifu Prefecture introduces it as the oldest wooden Buddhist image in the prefecture whose date is known. Together with a Taizokai Dainichi Nyorai and a Kokuzo Bosatsu, it conveys the deep history of Koka mountain worship and Buddhist art. The repository is open 9:00–16:30 and admission is free.
