DescriptionA statue of Ryomen Sukuna is enshrined in the main hall of Nichiryubuji Temple. According to temple tradition, during the reign of Emperor Nintoku in the first half of the 5th century, Ryomen Sukuna, a powerful figure from Hida, drove away a divine dragon on the peak of Takazawa and founded a temple there. Official tourism sources from Gifu Prefecture and Seki City introduce Nichiryubuji as the oldest temple in Gifu Prefecture and state that the main hall houses the statue of Ryomen Sukuna, regarded in temple tradition as its founder. The statue is normally closed to the public and is unveiled once a year on the third Sunday of November.
