DescriptionThis wooden standing Eleven-Faced Kannon is enshrined in the Kannon Hall of Yakuoin Onsenji Temple. Dating to the Heian period, it stands 167.2 cm tall and is a substantial single-block carving made from keyaki wood. It is said to have originally belonged to Jikoin, formerly associated with the Shinmeigu and Hakusangu shrines in Daishoji, before being transferred to Yakuoin. It was designated a Tangible Cultural Property of Ishikawa Prefecture on April 11, 1991. There are records of viewing the image in the Kannon Hall, but advance confirmation is the safest option for individual viewing.
