DescriptionA wooden seated Amida Nyorai enshrined in the Main Hall of Fukuoji Temple. Dating to the Kamakura period, it is based on a single block of cedar with the arms carved separately. Its most distinctive feature is that it depicts Amida in the raigo, or welcoming, form while seated—an unusual iconographic type. The image is designated a Tangible Cultural Property of Toyama Prefecture. Imizu City's official tourism site currently introduces it as one of three prefecturally designated Buddhist images at Fukuoji.
