DescriptionA wooden standing Fudo Myoo enshrined in the Main Hall of Fukuoji Temple. The 160 cm figure is based on a single block of cedar, with the two arms carved separately. It holds a sword in the right hand and a lasso in the left, while red coloring on the figure and halo heightens its powerful presence. Dating to the Kamakura period, it is regarded as the oldest surviving standing Fudo Myoo image in Toyama Prefecture and is designated a Tangible Cultural Property of the prefecture. Fukuoji is currently introduced by Imizu City's official tourism site as a temple notable for three prefecturally designated Buddhist images.
