DescriptionAn Amida triad kept as secret images in the Amida Hall of Saishoji Temple. The standing group places Amida Nyorai at the center with Kannon Bosatsu and Seishi Bosatsu as attendants and is designated a Tangible Cultural Property of Toyama Prefecture. Temple tradition says the three images appeared from a pond in Noto during the Kamakura period and were later revered by Shinran, who is said to have identified them as sacred images carved by Prince Shotoku. They were transferred to Saishoji in the Edo period, and the Amida Hall was built in the Genroku era to enshrine them. The temple's official website states that they are now unveiled only once every ten years, making an encounter with the triad a rare devotional occasion.
