DescriptionSho Kannon Bosatsu is enshrined as the principal image in the hexagonal Kannon Hall in front of Kokutaiji's Sanmon Gate. Temple tradition attributes the image to Gyoki, and thirty-three Kannon images are enshrined around it. The hall was completed in May 1968 and remains the third station of the Ecchu pilgrimage and the twenty-fourth temple of the Hokuriku Thirty-Three Kannon Pilgrimage. Kokutaiji is normally open free of charge from about 9:00 to 16:00, and the Kannon Hall is part of the regular visitor route.
