DescriptionA Shaka Triad enshrined as the principal images in Kokutaiji's Hatto Hall, which also serves as the Butsuden. It consists of Shaka Nyorai with Monju Bosatsu and Fugen Bosatsu as attendants. Kokutaiji traces its origins to Jiun Myoi's hermitage around 1300 and the founding of Toshoji in 1304, and it continues as a Rinzai Zen training monastery. The grounds are normally open free of charge from about 9:00 to 16:00, allowing visitors to worship the triad during a regular visit.
