Description

A wooden standing Amida Nyorai enshrined as the principal image in the Main Hall of Shokoji Temple. Official temple materials describe it as carved from a single piece of sandalwood, and it is included as the single sculptural work among the Shokoji treasures designated by Toyama Prefecture as historical materials. Shokoji is a Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha temple founded by Rennyo in 1471. The present Main Hall was built in 1795 and designated a National Treasure in 2022. Visitors can enter the Main Hall during regular viewing hours and worship the principal Amida Nyorai.
