Description

The Takeda Fudoson Triad is enshrined in the Myoo Hall of Erinji Temple. Temple tradition holds that the central Fudo Myoo was modeled on Takeda Shingen himself. An ink inscription inside the statue revealed that it was made in April 1572 by Koju, a Buddhist sculptor of the Shichijo-nishi Bussho workshop in Kyoto. The triad consists of Fudo Myoo flanked by two attendants. Long protected as a secret image, it is now open to general worship. It became an Important Cultural Property of Japan in 2026 and preserves the temple’s faith and history as an image created during Shingen’s lifetime.
