DescriptionEnshoji Temple in Mitsuishi, Shinhidaka, enshrines a distinctive Bato Kannon Bosatsu connected with Hokkaido’s horse-breeding culture. The official Hokkaido 33 Kannon pilgrimage records that the Mitsuishi Kannon Hall was consecrated in 1931, with the Bato Kannon Bosatsu placed above a life-size statue of Toyohira, a horse associated with the origins of Hidaka’s light-horse breeding. JA Mitsuishi also explains that the image was created in memory of Toyohira. Enshoji is Temple No. 31 of the Hokkaido 33 Kannon pilgrimage; the pilgrimage association lists worship hours as 8:00–17:00 and asks visitors to contact the temple in advance.
