Description

Shiawase Jizo is a monumental standing Jizo Bosatsu at the foot of Mount Togami near Shukunegi on Sado Island. Including its pedestal, the statue rises 17.5 m. The project was initiated in 1982 and completed in 1983. The white figure is visible from afar and combines a gentle, compassionate expression with an imposing scale. Beyond the temple gate are a Jizo hall and other Jizo images. Official tourism information presents it as an outdoor site that can be visited year-round, about an eight-minute drive from Ogi Port. Its monumental presence and the strong local tradition of Jizo devotion make it a distinctive Buddhist destination around Shukunegi.
