Manganji’s principal image is the Eleven-Headed Jibo Kannon, revered as the “Ichigan Kannon,” or Kannon who grants one’s foremost wish. Chiba Prefecture describes it as a large Kannon image made entirely of hinoki cypress and standing about 4.3 meters high. Manganji carries on the pilgrimage tradition of the Saigoku, Bando and Chichibu Hundred Kannon routes and the Shikoku 88-temple pilgrimage; its Mangan Hall enshrines principal images invited from a total of 188 pilgrimage temples. The principal Kannon stands at the center of this devotional complex, and the Choshi Tourism Association notes that worshippers visit from across Japan. It can be worshipped in the main hall during regular hours, and the temple is about a five-minute walk from Inubo Station.
