DescriptionNaganuma Komagata Daibutsu is a 2.36-meter bronze seated Amida Nyorai enshrined in the grounds of Komagata Kannon Hall. An inscription on the statue records that it was cast in 1703 by the metal caster Hashimoto Isaemon Fujiwara Shigehiro. The head was made using a split-mold casting technique, while separately cast sections of the body were joined together. Chiba City regards it as one of the prefecture's notable surviving examples of a large cast-bronze Buddha from the Edo period. The names of village nenbutsu groups that donated funds for its construction are inscribed on the back, preserving evidence of the breadth of local devotion. Chiba City lists the statue as publicly viewable, and it can still be worshipped in the grounds of Komagata Kannon Hall.
