DescriptionThe Kannon Hall of Juonji Temple houses a group known as the Thirty-Three Kannon, although 34 Kannon statues are actually enshrined there. Juonji, a Soto Zen temple, is said to have been founded in 1521 and moved to its present site around 1640. The temple garden is also known for azaleas and attracts many visitors during the flowering season. The Kannon images and garden can be visited together at this temple that remains open to general worshippers.
