Description

A large Enmei Jizo Bosatsu stands in the grounds of Myokakuji Temple and is also known as the Myokakuji Daibutsu. It is introduced as one of the Three Great Buddhas of Akita Prefecture, together with the Kamasawa Daibutsu in Kitaakita and the Akata Daibutsu in Yurihonjo. The temple is located in Akita City's central temple district, and its grounds are open to worshippers year-round. An annual grand service is held before the Enmei Jizo, which remains an object of local devotion.
