Description

Shakyamuni Buddha is enshrined as the principal image of Dairyuji, a Soto Zen temple on a hill overlooking the Sea of Japan on the Oga Peninsula. The temple is also known for its garden and temple buildings, and numerous Buddhist images, including statues of Kannon Bosatsu, are enshrined throughout the grounds. Visitors can also ring the large temple bell in the Ryuo-den, a tahoto-style tower that also serves as a bell tower. Located about a seven-minute walk from Oga Station, the temple welcomes general visitors throughout the year.
