Description

On the grounds of Seirinji Temple stands a 16-meter-tall image of Shaka Nyorai known as the Aukana Buddha. Official tourism information from Kanuma City and Tochigi Prefecture introduces Seirinji as a temple known for this large Buddha image and its peonies. Each year on May 5, the temple holds a flower festival in front of the image, setting up a flower pavilion and pouring sweet tea to celebrate the Buddha's birth. Visiting is free, and official information states that the temple is about a 15-minute walk from JR Kanuma Station and about a 20-minute walk from Tobu Shin-Kanuma Station.
