DescriptionSugamo Ohdai Kannondo on the Taisho University campus is an octagonal, three-level Buddhist cultural facility completed in 2013 and popularly known as the Ohdai Sazaedo. Its principal image, Sho Kannon Bodhisattva, called Sugamo Ohdai Kannon, is enshrined on the top floor. The image was created by the Matsuhisa Sorin Buddhist Sculpture Studio and donated by the Tokyo Branch of the Ohdai Alumni Association. It was established with prayers for peace and prosperity in the local community and for the health and happiness of visitors. Worshippers ascend the hall's double-spiral route to encounter the image at close range. The hall is currently open to everyone from 9:00 to 17:00.
