DescriptionThe Sho-Kanzeon Bosatsu is the principal image of Enmanji Temple's Kannon Hall in Shimotani, Nishiaizu Town. Revered as the "Child-Care Kannon," the image has long attracted devotion, while the Kannon Hall itself is designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan and preserves the architectural style of the late Muromachi period. The exterior of the hall can be viewed at any time, but the doors are opened to allow worship of the principal image only once a year, on April 17. With a thatched historic hall and Kannon devotion dating back to the medieval period, this is a Buddhist spot with a clearly defined annual viewing date.
