DescriptionThe Sho-Kannon Bosatsu is enshrined in the Kannon Hall of Hirosawayama Kokushoji Temple, the 16th temple of the Aizu Thirty-Three Kannon pilgrimage. The statue is one shaku seven sun high (about 51 cm) and continues to attract local devotion. According to the official Japan Heritage “Aizu Thirty-Three Kannon Pilgrimage” site, a joint memorial service is held every August 14, and the Kannon Hall is opened on that occasion. It is an Aizu pilgrimage site with a clearly defined annual opportunity to view the actual image.
