DescriptionA standing wooden statue of Eleven-Faced Kannon is enshrined at Furujuku Kannon Hall in Ika, Hanawa Town. Carved from a single zelkova log, it stands over 2 m high and retains traces suggesting it was originally painted. Its sculptor and date are unknown, but it is protected as a Tangible Cultural Property designated by Hanawa Town and is one of the town's notable large old Buddhist images. Because an ink-painted dragon dated Kanpo 2 (1742) remains on the hall's ceiling, the hall is thought to have been built before that time. The principal image is kept inside the hall, but visitors can actually see and worship it through gaps in the lattice doors.
