DescriptionThirty-three stone Kannon Bodhisattvas are enshrined on Kannonyama in the Kubota district of Yanaizu Town. Tradition holds that in 1818 (Bunsei 1), local residents carved one image per household, each with a prayer, and the group is affectionately known as the "Mawari Kannon." Along a pilgrimage route about 234 m long, Sho-Kannon, Nyoirin Kannon, Eleven-Faced Kannon, Thousand-Armed Kannon, Bato Kannon and others stand at intervals of 5-6 m. There is also a rare figure known as the "Maria Kannon," holding a cross. Devotion for safe childbirth and good health continues, and the Kubota Thirty-Three Kannon Festival is held every year on April 29.
