DescriptionA pair of Nio guardian statues enshrined on both sides of the gate at Kifukuzan Taisen-in Temple in Niida, Hachinohe. According to Hachinohe City, plaques by the statues record that they were donated in 1811, the same year associated with the installation of the Sixteen Arhats on the upper floor, providing evidence for the date of the gate. The three-bay, single-entrance two-story gate preserves the character of the late Edo period and was designated an Aomori Prefectural Treasure in 2017. Aomori Prefecture lists the gate as open for exterior viewing only, allowing visitors to see the Nio statues from the exterior on both sides of the gate.
