DescriptionKawakura Sai-no-Kawara Jizoson, northeast of Ashino Park, is a major Tsugaru Jizo pilgrimage site. About 2,000 Jizo statues of various sizes are enshrined inside and around the hall, creating a distinctive landscape. Like Mount Osore in Shimokita, it is known for kuchiyose rites performed by itako spirit mediums. Many pilgrims visit the annual festival on the 22nd-24th days of the sixth lunar month. Goshogawara City states that the site is open year-round and free, so visitors can walk among and see the many Jizo images.
