DescriptionThe Main Hall of Jojuji, at the foot of Mt. Hayama, enshrines a seated Shakyamuni Buddha as its principal image. The statue has the Chinese-inspired appearance characteristic of an Obaku Zen temple, and the hall also contains images of Bodhidharma and Kakko Bosatsu. Although the interior of the Main Hall is normally closed, the quiet grounds retain the depth and refined atmosphere of an old temple in western Kyoto.
