Description

Adashino Nenbutsu-ji is a Jōdo-shū (Pure Land) temple in Adashino, Oku-Saga, a place long associated with burial and memorial rites. The main hall enshrines Amida Buddha. The many stone Buddhist images and memorial stupas throughout the grounds preserve prayers for the countless people whose graves became unattended over time. In the stillness of Sagano, this Buddhist site invites quiet reflection on the transience of life and the saving compassion of Amida.
