Description

Jōjakkō-ji is a Nichiren temple on the slope of Mount Ogura, celebrated for its autumn foliage. Its Niōmon Gate houses imposing statues of the Niō, the two guardian kings, traditionally attributed to the sculptor Unkei. Their powerful presence marks the entrance to the quiet mountain temple.
