DescriptionRyuuhonji, a head temple of Nichiren Buddhism, has a Setsudō, or Kishimojin Hall, dedicated to Kishimojin (Hārītī), affectionately known locally as Kitano no Kishimojin-san. Revered for safe childbirth and the protection and healthy growth of children, Kishimojin is traditionally described as a once-fierce mother deity who embraced the Buddhist teaching and became a guardian of families.
