DescriptionInjoji in Kamigyo Ward is known for beliefs surrounding judgment in the afterlife and memorial prayers, and is affectionately called Senbon Enmado. The Main Hall enshrines Enma Daio as the principal image. Standing near the entrance to Rendaino, a former burial ground of Heian-kyo, the temple preserves Kyoto’s reflections on life and death through traditions such as welcoming ancestral spirits and Nenbutsu Kyogen.
