DescriptionThe Amida Hall at Kiyomizu-dera, rebuilt in 1631, enshrines Amida Nyorai. It is traditionally regarded as the place where the continuous nenbutsu practice taught by Hōnen was first performed in Japan and is the thirteenth site of the Twenty-Five Sacred Sites of Hōnen. Within temple grounds best known for Kannon devotion, the hall preserves a quieter current of Pure Land prayer and offers visitors a peaceful place to pause.
