DescriptionTofukuji’s Main Hall enshrines a triad centered on Shaka Nyorai with Kasyapa and Ananda as attendants. The imposing space suits the center of the temple’s vast complex and conveys the stillness and taut dignity characteristic of a Zen monastery. After the former Butsuden and Hatto were lost to fire in the Meiji period, the present hall was rebuilt to serve both functions.
