DescriptionKaijūsen-ji is an ancient temple of the Chisan school of Shingon Buddhism in the mountains of Kamo, Kizugawa. Although best known for its National Treasure five-story pagoda, its main hall enshrines an Important Cultural Property standing image of Jūichimen Kannon (Eleven-Headed Kannon) as the principal image. In the stillness of this mountain temple, the gentle presence of the ancient image conveys the long tradition of Kannon devotion in southern Yamashiro.
