DescriptionAizu Jibo Daikannon rises 57 meters above Inori no Sato Aizu Mura, overlooking the Aizu Basin and Mount Bandai. Built as a prayer for world peace, it became the symbol of the “Village of Prayer,” founded in 1986. Visitors can enter the colossal image, where a Thousand-Armed Kannon and Buddhist statues from Thailand, India, Vietnam, and other parts of Asia are enshrined. Operated today as the Aizu branch of Hōkoku-ji, the site hosts memorial services and prayers. The maternal expression of the great Kannon brings together contemporary devotion, remembrance, and the presence of a regional landmark.
