DescriptionAt Bukkokuji Temple on a hill in Aoba Ward, Sendai, the approximately 16-meter Ayashi Daibutsu faces due south over the town of Ayashi. Erected in 2002, it is revered as a guardian image watching over the Jodo mausoleum and Ayashi-no-Oka cemetery. Surrounded by flowers and greenery, visitors can ride the slope car “Namu Namu-go” from the parking area to the statue, experiencing both the dignity of its immense scale and its welcoming connection to the local community.
